Those zany nuns are back in The Community Players’ “Nunsense II: The Second Coming.”

In the raucous musical, it is six weeks after the nuns’ initial benefit performance, and the same five Little Sisters of Hoboken are back on stage at Mount Saint Helen’s School, ready to perform a thank you program for their supporters.

Since their first time out was such a hit, the nuns are a little slicker and have decided they should stick to their successful variety show formula. This time they are forced to work around the set of “The Mikado,” which is being presented the following week by the Hoboken Music Society.  Having been bitten by the theater bug, things get off to a rousing start, but before long, chaos erupts. Dan Goggin’s “Nunsense II” is filled with show-stopping numbers, amusing puns and characters of endearing silliness.

Directed by Bill Whitehead Jr. with musical direction by Ron Procopio, the play features Cathy Fox as Reverend Mother, Karen Gail Kessler as Sister Hubert, Maria Day as Sister Robert Anne, Jeanne Sullivan Evans as Sister Amnesia and Donna Gorham as Sister Leo.

Performances are April 8 to 10, 15 to 17 and 22 to 24 in the auditorium of Jenks Junior High School, 350 Division St., Pawtucket. Shows on Fridays and Saturdays are at 8 p.m., and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $18 for students.
