Connected Living Discussion Groups at Wingate (August 1, 8, 15, 22, 29)
PROVIDENCE—Wingate Residences at Blackstone will host multimedia discussion groups with Connected Living on Mondays in August at 2 p.m. Topics include:
  • Golden Age of Radio, Aug. 1 – Radio programming hit its peak during the 1920s, 30s and 40s. Join us to learn how radio developed into the sensation that was what many call the “Golden Age of Radio.”
  • Oklahoma!, Aug. 8 – An instant box office hit, the musical Oklahoma! debuted on March 31, 1943. Join us to explore this exciting production, including its continued success.
  • Hollywood, Aug. 15 – Lights! Camera! Action! We’ll discuss Hollywood’s history and some of its greatest masterpieces.
  • U.S. Trivia, Aug. 22 – The United States has a history full of interesting people, places and things. Test your knowledge in our trivia challenge, and bring your American adventure stories to share!
  • Princess Diana, Aug. 29 – Princess Diana of Wales was one of the world’s greatest icons. We’ll take a look at her life and legacy.
Connected Living offers computer training and support for seniors, families and senior living communities. These discussion groups are free and open to the public, but space is limited. Tai Chi classes at Wingate Residences at Blackstone (August 16, 23, 30)
PROVIDENCE—Wingate Residences at Blackstone will host tai chi classes for seniors at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays in August. Dates include Aug. 16, 23 and 30. These classes will be led by Eastern fitness instructor Bob McManus, who has more than 14 years of experience teaching tai chi. Seniors are welcome to attend and learn more about this form of ancient Chinese meditative exercise. These classes are free and open to the public, but space is limited. Pub hour with Connie Giso at Wingate Residences at Blackstone (August 8)
PROVIDENCE—Wingate Residences at Blackstone will welcome pianist Connie Giso for a pub hour performance on Monday, Aug. 8 at 4 p.m. Giso is an energetic performer who encourages audience participation. ‘Understanding and Treating Hoarding’ at Wingate Residences at Blackstone (August 15)
PROVIDENCE—Wingate Residences at Blackstone will host ‘Understanding and Treating Hoarding’ on Monday, Aug. 15 at 5 p.m. Assistant professor and researcher Maria Mancebo, PhD will offer an in-depth look at hoarding, including long-term effects of this compulsive behavior, evidence-based treatments and interventions. Larry Pearlman Duo to perform at Wingate Residences at Blackstone (August 16)
PROVIDENCE—Wingate Residences at Blackstone will welcome the Larry Pearlman Duo for a performance on Tuesday, Aug. 16 at 2 p.m. Pearlman performs Dixieland jazz on piano accompanied by the standup bass. Tap n’ Time at Wingate Residences at Blackstone (August 17)  
PROVIDENCE—Wingate Residences at Blackstone will welcome the therapeutic dance program Tap n’ Time on Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 2 p.m. Tap n’ Time is a seated dance program designed to engage and benefit people of all levels and abilities. The program has been used to help rehabilitate individuals with arthritis, respiratory issues, multiple sclerosis, joint replacements and heart disease. Mike Higgins to perform at Wingate Residences at Blackstone (August 23)
PROVIDENCE—Wingate Residences at Blackstone will welcome musician Mike Higgins for a performance on Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 2 p.m. Higgins sings with a strong, expressive voice and frequently performs piedmont blues. He is a native of Taunton, Mass., and has been teaching guitar for more than 35 years. This event is free and open to the public but space is limited.
