Moore, 63, of Pawtucket was the subject of the Salute to Seniors feature in the August issue of “Senior Digest.” With her own money, the retired medical imaging technician purchased a $9,000 portable X-ray machine and is raising funds to ship the apparatus to a community in Togo, West Africa; purchase an accompanying digital X-ray reader and computer; and travel there to provide training. Her goal is $18,000. Moore said she initiated the project because residents of Sokode, Togo, have no way to take X-rays necessary to evaluate injuries or diagnose illnesses. Contributions can be mailed to Moore at PO Box 40838, Providence, RI, 02940. Checks should be made out to Clinics of Hope, with “X-ray project” written on the memo line. Salute to Seniors is co-sponsored by the Bankers Life and Casualty regional office at 275 West Natick Road in Warwick. Consumers can contact the office at (401) 732-5213.
