Yearly fund-raiser aids environmental group

save the baySave The Bay will hold its annual Taste of The Bay fund-raising event from 7 to 9 p.m. on June11 at the Save The Bay Center in Providence following its annual meeting at 5:30. The center at 100 Save The Bay Drive overlooks upper Narragansett Bay.

As Save The Bay works to protect and improve the waterway, Taste of The Bay is a festive, sunset celebration of the flavors, sights and sounds of Narragansett Bay. For a ticket price of $30, guests enjoy food and beverages from local restaurants, shell fishermen, bakeries, breweries and wineries.

The event will feature music by Bob Tomassone and drawings for gift baskets and other prizes. Guests are also welcome to attend the organization’s annual meeting during which Save The Bay will present its annual environmental awards.

More than 30 vendors from Rhode Island are expected at the fund-raiser, including longtime supporters such as the Rhode Island Shellfisherman’s Association, Bottles Fine Wine, Whole Foods, Narragansett Beer, Gooseneck Wines, Granny Squibb Co. and Sons of Liberty Spirits Co.

Some of the new vendors joining the event this year include Matunuck Oyster Bar, Two Ten Oyster Bar, Ocean State Smoked Fish, Ted’s Montana Grill, Preppy Pig BBQ, Yacht Club Soda and Narragansett Creamery.

Other supporters include Newport Biodiesel, Regency Plaza, William Raveis Real Estate, Academy Bus and Johnson and Wales University.
